Learning the Silicon Valley Dance

programs-marketing-management-international-businessAre you an entrepreneur eager to launch your company in the U.S.? Do you believe you have the next big thing and are ready to take on the Silicon Valley?

What does it take to be successful here? So many companies fail. How can you be sure you won’t be one of them? For sure, to make it here you need to understand American business practices. If you want to succeed in the Silicon Valley, you have to understand American business practices and you need to know how we do business here in the Valley.

I’ve been in the tech world for many years and know that doing business in the US and especially in the Silicon Valley is different from almost any other place in the world. We have our own way of doing things. We’re so used to it we don’t even think of it as a formula that makes everything work. We see it as an informal ebb and flow among interested parties. Meetings take place in conference rooms, restaurants, the local Starbucks. But don’t be deceived – it may look informal, but this is serious business.

Many newcomers tell me that doing business here is harder than they thought it would be. Sure it’s the tech mecca. That’s good if you’re a tech company. It’s also a huge challenge because everyone is trying to come up with the “next big thing.”

A Canadian entrepreneur told me he was surprised at how competitive it is here. There are so many talented people with great ideas.  That’s why it’s important to position yourself and your company for success.

I call it learning the Silicon Valley dance – the way you prepare for a launch here, how you network to meet people who can help you, how to work with special interest groups that can help you make contacts, knowing what to do and what to say.

That’s what we do at Strategy for Global Markets. We teach you the process and coach you along the way. We want you to be successful. We want to teach you the Silicon Valley dance.

After all, you might just have “the next best thing.”
